Our Mission Committee has been really busy for the last few years.

Some of the activities that the Committee has been involved in:

getwellballoon We are so proud of our Sunday School Class.  The Mission committee gave the kids a challenge.  To create Get Well Goodie Bags for children who have to go to the hospital.   They kids were amazing.  The kids decorated the bags with drawings and stickers.  They then filled the bags with wonderful things such as crayons, coloring books, games, small toys and more.  The kids made 16 bags to be given to Wayne Memorial Hospital, who will distribute the bags to children who show up in their emergency room.  The Hospital Staff told us that they will get them through 1 month.  These bags are to help the kids and possibly distract them when they are in the Emergency room and to give them courage.  The kids had a great time and can't wait to make some more!  What a great example they are to all of us!!!!  The Mission Committee are going to buy more things for the kids to make more bags.

XmasTreeThe Mission Committee also sponsors a fund drive in the fall to raise funds to purchase gifts for a needy family from Wayne County Children's Chrismas Bureau.  The Mission Committee matches what the congregation raises and "Adopts" a family or families depending on the amount.  Our "Shoppers" then purchases gifts based on what the children ask for.  These items could included, clothes, shoes, toys, books, games, etc.

COLLEGEFINALS We all dreaded our finals while at college so the Mission Committee along with the congregation send boxes of goodies to help them study.  In the fall the Mission Committee puts out boxes for our College Students and the congregation fills them with wonderful goodies.  The boxes are then sent directly to the students to let them know that we are rooting for them.

NOISYCOLLECTION This is another activity that the Sunday School wanted to do.  Every Summer the Sunday School kids go around the congregation (just before heading down for their lessons) and collect change from everyone.  At the end of the summer the funds are counted and later matched by the Mission Committee and sent to Joyce Johns a missionary working in Cambodia.

These are just a few of the activities that the committee has been involved in.  If you have any ideas or thoughts on a charity or activity you would like our Mission Committee to look into supporting, contact us at 570-253-6316.
