Pastor Bill Blackie

Rev. Blackie was born in 1957 in Los Angeles, CA.  By 1960 his family had moved to Plum Borough, PA (about 22 miles North East of Pittsburgh) where he lived until he went to college.

He graduated from Plum Borough Senior High School in 1976, lettering in football, wrestling and volleyball.  After high school he attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA graduating in 1980 with two Bachelor degrees in Political Science and History, lettering in football and wrestling.  In 1988, he earned a Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and in 2008 his Masters of Public Administration, concentrating in non-profit administration, from Keller Graduate School of Management.

He has served for over 34 years in the U.S. Military, from 1976 to 2010, where he served in different positions such as: Military Police Investigator, Surface Warfare Officer, Damage Control Officer, Internal Review Officer, and finally Chaplain (22 years).  He was officially retired in March 2010 with the rank of Colonel.

He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) on September 23, 1988 and has served as interim pastor in Canton, OH, Glenshaw Valley, PA and Honesdale, PA.  As a Military Chaplain has has servied on active duty in Ad Damman Port, Saudi Arabia (OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/STORM) and Baghdad, Iraq (OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM).  He has served as senior pastor in Fort Branch, IN, Chattanooga, TN and Carbondale, PA.  He is presently serving as our Installed Minister.

Rev. Blackie and his wife Jean Marie (formerly) Kozul were married on Mary 25, 2002 and currently live in Damascus, PA where his wife serves as Pastor of the United Methodist Damascus Charge (Damascus Manor and Abrahamsville United Methodist Churches.)
